Most people marvel at the beauty of a wild Turkey’s tail feathers, much beloved by Native Americans as well as colonial quill makers. However, upon closer look the front end of a wild Turkey makes for a challenging but beautiful portrait for the wildlife artist. We are fortunate to have a farm bordering on woodlands where Turkeys are among the many denizens sharing the density of the sheltered acres. On occasion we’ve had as many as 19 of the birds frolicking and feeding on our open fields. Once or twice, they’ve even snuck closer to our farmhouse by infiltrating gaggles of Canada Geese!
