Chobe River Wildlife

In 2017 a friend and I drove 2000 kilometers on our own around the woods of northern Botswana and part of the Kalahari Desert. While photographing a family of elephants along the grassy marshes of the Chobe River, I was able to capture on film a fantastic photo of a multi-colored Yellow-Billed stork just at the instant it was silhouetted in flight in front of a young elephant cow.

It was a great “money shot,” but I felt I had to work it into my collection of African wildlife paintings, thus this watercolor executed this winter at our Goose Island Art Studio.
