Nxai Pan Neighbors

The Nxai Pan nature preserve is located on the northern fringe of the Kalahari Desert in Botswana. During the artist’s month-long two-man safari through Botswana’s northern tier in June 2017, it was in the dry season, so the best place to game watch was at one of the man-made, Ranger maintained water holes. All sorts of animals and birds ambled in from the dry plains where only four of us humans were on hand to quietly enjoy the comings and goings. This watercolor was completed in January 2022 based on field sketches and photos taken in the field by the artist.
